I grew up in a small country called Wales, which is only the size of Wales. Over the last couple of years, I have probably seen more of it than I had managed in the previous 50. However, that has only served to make me realise how much more there still is to see. In a bid to at least partially address this, I have decided I am going to walk the Wales Coast Path.
Despite the path being 870 miles long, this is not as intrepid an adventure as it sounds. This is not going to be a single, marathon journey, but more of a collection. It will be a Panini sticker book of rambling - it will build up over time, in no set sequence and there will be lots of pictures. Obviously, this will still leave a huge amount of the country still to see, but at least I will get to see most of the “crinkly bits”.
Photographically I am going to try something a little different. Generally, I am very much a RAW shooter - I never expect what I see in the camera will be the final image. For this project, I am going to try and discipline myself to capture the images in-camera i.e. in JPEGs. To help me in this task I have decided to use a Fuji XT-3 as my primary camera. Fuji’s wide selection of film simulations gives me more options on giving an image a specific look without having to resort to the computer. I am not quite confident enough to not record the RAWs as well though, so time will tell whether I will fall back into old habits.
